[Recipient of the 2005 Hot Product Award] What perfect timing these molds had in arriving! We had a birthday party in the works and I had been wondering where I should buy a cake. I wanted one that was above and beyond a normal sheetcake, that are easily found. I wanted a special one this year! Then the mailman came and solved the dilemma. I looked at the box and said "WOW! That looks so easy, I think I will try it!" Worst case scenario I would find it not as easy as it looked and I would still have to purchase one elsewhere. There was still time if this were the case, so I decided to roll up my sleeves and get busy. I took out the surprise mold set, washed them up, sprayed them with non stick spray as it says to do. I then decided to give it a try per how I tend to do things - This includes winging it without directions. I had a german chocolate cake mix. I had frosting to go with it. I had vanilla pudding mix and I had chocolate chips. I mixed up the cake mix as per norm - placed it in the pans and baked them. I mixed up the pudding mix and set it in the fridge to thicken and cool. When it was done, the cake was about done as well. I took the cake pans out (Surprise Molds that is), let them sit to cool and mixed the chocolate chips into the vanilla pudding which was ready now. I then put it back in the fridge, removed the cake halves from the molds to finish cooling. Once the cake was fully cooled, I poured the pudding with chocolate chips into the molded centers, flipped the top half on top of the bottom half, and then placed the frosting over the entire cake. PERFECT! You could not have asked for a smoother first try and it truly came out wonderfully. I was impressed! Now that I have had a perfect first experience, I am in the works of trying the included recipes. They have some tasty treats in there for you and your family to enjoy and I plan on trying all of them. Each recipe has complete instructions and pictures. They include 10 tasty recipes with every mold set. The kids think this is great! They can now have special surprises instead of the everyday cake mix sheet cakes they are used to getting here and there. Now I will let my creative side loose and see what ideas we can come up with to try. Not only is this set great for dessert but think of the possibilities with main dishes! We are going to try salmon loaf with garlic cream cheese flair in the center, meatloaf with potatoes in the center, cheesecake with cherry center filling, cake with ice cream in the center, shortcake surprise with mixed fruits in the center, and the kids are working on more fun ideas they want to try with me. I have a feeling we will be "filling" for quite some time with this great set. Now not only is eating more fun for the kids, but they can help create new ideas to try with me, which adds to fun times in the kitchen. (Now if I can just find a way to make doing the dishes this appealing! ... Okay, a mother can dream!) This set is made of fine aluminum and cleans up in a snap. When I removed the cake from the pans, it was hard to tell they had even been used, prior to even cleaning them up. If you get tired of boring dishes and want to spice up home cooking and baking, I encourage you to try these. We are having a ball with them and know you and your family will enjoy them too. No more wondering how to stuff your entrees and desserts, this takes the work out and puts the enjoyment in to cooking and baking. Where was the BetterBasket when I was carrying the bulky laundry basket up and down the stairs, and through doorways where I had to turn it sideways to fit it through the door? Now I have an easy to carry, lightweight basket that I can not only carry my laundry in, but sort it in as well! This is terrific!

PROS: CONS: The Hamilton Beach BrewStation is a great machine. Using regular disposable filters and any brand/grind of coffee are just two of the bonuses. The fresh coffee scent and delicious taste are just two of the others. Easy to fill the water reservoir - a large opening at the top opens for easy access. The coffee storage tank doubles as a filling pitcher, and then easily goes back in, to make the coffee. The 2 hour timer is great for people like me - I leave home and then wonder ' did I turn the coffee pot off? ' Now there are no more worries, as it shuts itself off after 2 hours. The warming plate does not scorch the coffee or change the taste - This is very handy. Some coffee pots are notorious for burning the coffee when left to keep warm for any length of time. I have left small and large amounts in the Brew Station for the entire 2 hours span, and it has never changed the taste. I find the fact that there is no carafe to be both a negative and a positive. The positive aspects outweigh the negative with me. There is no carafe to break or spill coffee with, you dispense straight from the machine. However, you have no carafe to serve guests with either. The holding tank for the coffee is made of double layer plastic. It is light in color, so you can see through it to know how much coffee is left. No where in the instructions does it warn you about staining this plastic with coffee. Be sure to clean it well with baking soda a couple of times a week, daily if you are heavy coffee drinkers, to eliminate this problem. We also found one other problem. With constant repeated use, as we give our coffee makers, the rubber o-ring which is around the dispenser on the inside of the coffee storage tank can gather residue from the coffee oils after time. Be sure to clean under this well, or it can cause a slow leak / drip, which will cause coffee to leak onto your counter. Once we discovered this, it was easy to solve the problem, but it took some figuring out to see what was causing it. (at first my spouse thought I was being careless and messy, and I thought he was). This is a great machine that I will replace with their new model when this one dies. It has been a trooper for some heavy coffee drinkers. I have enjoyed it greatly and suggest it highly. Everytime someone comes over, they comment on our coffee maker and all agree it will be their next machine. It comes in white or black models. There are models that have a clock, models without, and the newest model comes with a water filter which is said to improve the taste of the coffee even more. it is receiving all the rave. When we reviewed the Clever Hook, our interest was
in how well it performed, as they have made large claims, saying it will hold up
to 40 pounds.
The Clever Hook uses the force of gravity to hold items small or large.When you place an item on the lower portion of the hook, the top portion closes on it, to hold it firmly in place. When you wish to retrieve the item, simply lift up and it comes right off as the top portion lifts up again. What we found is it works wonderfully. It was small enough to use in the kitchen to hold towels ... This is nice because most hooks will quickly let a towel drop on the floor which can be very frustrating. It was also great at holding bath towels (even the very large ones). We then tried it with a large mans leather jacket which weighs a ton. It held it better than I can! The one thing to remember about using this hook - It may be stronger than the wall you place it in! When you are going to use it for heavier items be sure you place the screws (included) in a wall STUD! Otherwise, the item you hang may remain placed in the hook, but the hook will be on the floor. Sheetrock is not a firm foundation for placement of a hook meant to hold a lot of weight. If you follow this simple rule of thumb, your new clever hook will serve you well. The Clever Hook comes in many colors. Now you have a different hook for every room decor of your home. These are great in the bedroom, to hold bathrobes, etc. Great in the bathroom to hold towels or robes. Great in the hallway to hold jackets. Great in the garage to hold anything your mans heart desires. Very well priced, so you can pick up several to serve you all through the house. If you ever feel the need, a snooze alarm allows 9 more minutes to soak in the morning, prior to having to get up. Once you have tried this, you will immediately note the difference in your morning. Once you have used it for a week, you will see a big difference in your mood, energy level, and the speed in which you zip out of bed in the morning. This is a great product for anyone who has to wake up before sunrise occurs. If you have a child who is hard to get up in the morning for school, I cannot recommend this product highly enough. It is also highly recommended for those who suffer from bipolar symptoms. The Digital SunRise Clock also allows you to set it to gradually dim to the off position when you go to bed. This is nice when you want to go to sleep but still feel wound up from the day. Stress is a big contributor to this symptom. With the Digital SunRise Clock, you set it to dim you to sleep, and you will find as it dims, your body is gradually dimming to sleep mode as well. A great product, by a great company, and a great lifesaver for those who have needed such a help for their mornings but never before had it available to them. The Glowing Wild Pillow Case is great. The thing about them that impressed me the most, was when I first handed it to my child to use for bedtime, he said he would try it the next night, because he didn't have time to expose it to enough light to make it work. I said "Well, let's try it now and see!" I turned on his light, held the glowing side up for maybe 1 minute and then turned it off. He instantly had a glowing pillow case that lit up great. We were both mightily impressed.
These pillowcases are great in size, offering enough room for standard to queen size pillows. They are soft, well made to stand up to a lot of use for a long period of time and made to be easy to care for. They suggest turning them inside out to dry on low heat, but other than that one precaution, they can be cared for like any other home essential linen. The messages on the cases are great. Each style has a different inspirational message and can be used for either gender. It is great to know when our children lay their head down at night, that they will see last a message of hope and encouragement. This allows all of the negatives from their day to be met with true inspiration for their sleep. During the day the case hosts a great picture and message that does not glow. Easily seen in the light, these are blue in color and kids love the print. Then at night, simply turn it over, expose it to light for a few moments and then lights off for night time and bedtime fun. Soft to the touch, comfortable to sleep on and a whole lot of fun. This is a product that you as a parent can trust and your child will find amusing for bedtime. I have enjoyed the new found versatility with the Power Sentry Power Squid.
Before trying the Power Squid we were limited to using power strips/bars.
While Power strips / bars work, they limit you as to where they can be placed, and
what cords can be plugged into them.
If a cord end is large (as in transformer plugs) the next one will butt up against it and not fit into the plug, etc. It was also awkward to get them to sit where they could be concealed easily, because the cord was not very flexible and placing it against the wall without attaching it was very hard if not impossible to do. The Power Sentry Power Squid is different and eliminates all of these posed problems. Each outlet is separate, and they work as a group of extension cords. This is a great design, as it makes it easy to plug in each item. The Power Sentry Power Squid sits flat anywhere you place it, and is easily mounted using the hanger on the back. The Power Sentry Power Squid offers 5 outlets. The length of the extension on these range in length from 6" to 8" and 10". The Power Squid has a 4 ft cord connecting it to the wall, so it gives you a wide range of area it can be used. The Power Sentry Power Squid comes in two models - either with or without the surge protector. Surge protection is so important when plugging most items in, that I strongly suggest it for almost every item plugged in. However, if it does not matter, then the non surge protected one will meet your needs just fine. The main base of the Power Squid houses the 15 amp circuit breaker and a lighted master on/off switch. This product is great for indoor use, in the garage or for temporary use outdoors. This should not be used as a stationary outdoor wiring fixture.
